Diabetes Support
Complementary support alongside your diabetes care
Living with diabetes involves making decisions about your health every day. Our friendly team provides a welcoming place where you can discuss oxygen therapy and explore complementary support alongside the care provided by your GP or diabetes team.
BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY
Supporting your wellbeing safely and responsibly
Diabetes affects everyone differently. Your needs may depend on the type of diabetes you have, your medication, blood glucose control and whether you are experiencing any related health complications. Our approach begins with understanding your circumstances and the support you are looking for.
Oxygen therapy takes place inside one of our hyperbaric chambers, where oxygen is breathed through a mask while the chamber is gradually pressurised. Hyperbaric oxygen has been investigated for certain difficult-to-heal wounds, but it is not a general treatment for diabetes and is not suitable for every wound or every person.
Oxygen therapy does not control blood glucose or replace insulin, medication, dietary guidance, physical activity or any other treatment recommended by your healthcare professionals. A diabetic foot ulcer or any new problem affecting your feet requires prompt assessment by your GP, diabetes team or specialist diabetic foot service.
Oxygen therapy may affect blood glucose levels, so additional checks may be needed before and after a session. You should tell us about your diabetes, medication and any related complications before arranging an appointment. Our team will explain the process, carefully consider your suitability and advise whether medical approval is required.
